What is a Goldendoodle?

A Goldendoodle is a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. They come in various sizes and generations, such as mini, medium, or standard, and F1, F1b, F2, etc.  They are known for being intelligent, friendly, and low-shedding — ideal for families and allergy-sensitive homes.

We chose Harlow, a female Golden Retriever, to raise our upcoming litter as Golden Retrievers are loving and nurturing with their pups. Arlo is our stud Standard Poodle. He is merle in color.

Standard Goldendoodles are medium to large breed dogs with an energy level that is medium to high. They want homes with large yards or be able to visit places where they can run and play.

Goldendoodle Grooming

Goldendoodles have coats that vary from being straight, wavy, or curly. Do Goldendoodles shed? Goldendoodles are low shedding, but they require regular grooming every 6-8 weeks and weekly or even daily brushing to help manage matting and seasonal shedding. The best brush for a Goldendoodle can vary depending on coat type and your grooming goals. A slicker brush is wonderful for removing tangles, loose hair, and preventing matting. A steel comb is great for finishing your brushing job.

Coat types are influenced by generations.

  • F1 (50% Golden Retriever + 50% Poodle): more variety in coats

  • F1b (75% Poodle): more likely to have curly, low shedding coats

Goldendoodle Cost

Goldendoodle price will vary for many reasons. Generations influence the price, with F1 goldendoodles tending to be less expensive than the second generation F1b goldendoodle. Breeders who focus on health testing and early training and socialization typically charge a higher price. Goldendoodle colors, a mini goldendoodle vs. large goldendoodles, and included services often play a role in goldendoodle breeders determining their price.
