Family Favorite Sausage Stars
More than two decades ago a family friend made us Sausage Stars on Halloween night more during a trick or treat break and we haven’t stopped eating them since!
Birthday parties, Chiefs games, New Year’s Eve, or an appetizer during small group are all perfect occasions for these super easy and delicious snacks.
Want to know the best part of all?
They are fail proof! Really, you can’t mess them up. I don’t even have an actual recipe for you because they are just too easy.
Family Favorite Sausage Stars
Wonton Wrappers
Shredded Cheese
Sausage
Ranch Dressing
Brown the sausage. I use mild or medium, but you can absolutely use hot or Italian based on your preferences.
Once it’s cooked, I drain and let cool just a bit.
Push the Wontons down in a muffin tin and set aside.
Add the cooked sausage, shredded cheese, and ranch dressing to a mixing bowl and all together.
The amounts of all these ingredients really depends on how many stars you want! I typically cook a pound of sausage unless I’m feeding a crowd and then I do two pounds. I just throw in a handful of cheese and a big squirt of ranch dressing.
You don’t want the mixture to be dry, but you also don’t want it to be soupy.
You just want it to be moist. And I’m sorry for saying that word. I know some of you can’t stand it. :)
Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes, or until the tips are browned.
These really are a family favorite. I have to limit my kids on how many they can have until we make sure everyone has had some.
Although I’ve never tried it, I’m sure there are a variety of things you could mix in, like bacon bits, mushrooms, or green onions.
Let me know how you make it your own!
